KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE OF IMAGING OF CHILDREN WITH SUSPECTED CASES OF NON-ACCIDENTAL INJURIES AMONG RADIOGRAPHERS WITHIN MAIDUGURI METROPOLIS, NORTHEASTERN NIGERIA

Objectives: To assess the knowledge and practice of Non-accidental injuries (NAI) among radiographers practising within Maiduguri Metropolis. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted using a questionnaire to elicit information on imaging children with injuries. The elicited from related following themes: Demographic characteristics, NAI. Informed consent sought participants. Descriptive statistics (mean, frequencies) were used analyze data. Results: total 45 questionnaires distributed radiographers, 36 (100%) completed returned. 23 (63.9%) males 13 (36.1%) females. majority 34 (94.4%) respondents had good Skeletal survey examination commonly requested in NAI as reported by respondents, participants 31 (86.1%) no speciality training pediatric imaging. knew that single film image whole body (baby-gram) an obsolete examination. Conclusion: Radiographers this have are involved suspected cases non-accidental injury. It is evident results occurs our environment these underreported may even go unnoticed. Having adequate clinical radiologic manifestations will enable radiographer deliver evidence-based line international best practices.
